The process of moving house involves many time-consuming tasks, such as connecting and disconnecting services. When I moved a few years ago, I had to spend time calling the power, telephone, insurance and Internet companies. I also needed to contact the bank and the local post office. Fortunately, Mercury Energy now offers a free service that simplifies this task.

When a person is moving house and uses this service, Mercury MoveMate informs several utilities and other companies of the new and old addresses. This enables them to disconnect service at the former residence and begin serving the new home. The utilities include Mercury Energy, SKY satellite TV, Orcon Internet and New Zealand Post. MoveMate notifies water, telephone and gas suppliers as well.

Users only have to enter their contact information once; Mercury MoveMate handles the rest. There’s no need to spend time calling different companies on the phone or logging into their websites. This helps to prevent errors as well. Optionally, Mercury MoveMate also provides special prices on various moving-related services. People can use it to save money on removals, storage, van rentals and home repairs.

If you plan on moving house soon, visit the Mercury MoveMate website and fill out the address form. It will allow you to select the types of services that you use or would like to obtain. The website also offers a form that lets you request a reminder to use Mercury MoveMate. When your moving date approaches, it will send you a note via email.

Controversial plans are abound for a South Auckland Destiny Church community in the coming month.

The annual conference held by the church, titled the City of God, have a promotional media for the event. It features leader Brian Tamaki right in front of the city skyline of Auckland. This development is what Tamaki calls “the new Jerusalem”.

Tamaki has announced in New Year’s Eve that they have acquired permission a build a community composed of schools, a university, and an auditorium. All of these will be situated at $7.65 million Wiri property. By December, they will move their Mt. Wellington headquarters to there.

A presentation on the vision for the city will lead the Queen’s Birthday weekend conference, to be held at Rotorua’s Energy Events Centre. The church did not respond to requests for comment, but a highly-produced video on YouTube promotes the event. According to the Destiny Church website the three day conference will include presentations from Tamaki and his wife.

From Twitter…

Destiny city will be the ‘new Jerusalem‘: In a video Tamaki calls the development “the new Jerusalem“.
A Sunday morning service will be about “sowing a massive seed for our City,” presumably where members will be asked to donate to the cause.

Tamaki has earlier said that their planned developed will cost tens and millions and the money that they will use will come from those people who believe in it.

Reviews all have good things to say bout this new gadget form Canon that makes it a sure hit to all camera lovers out there. It is considered as an ideal compact camera which comes with great specs and features that can produce a high class quality photo.

Many are astounded with its HD movie recording feature, its 4x optical zoom feature, and its 12.1 megapixels shot screen making your pictures appear as if they were taken by a professional. It comes in Silver and black hues you can choose from.

This 2.7” LCD screen A1200 Silver Camera from Canon also comes in an affordable rate making it a gadget that is not only of high class quality but budget friendly as well. However, if there are high praises coming in, several low blows have also been noted. For one, the Canon A1200 Silver Camera’s shooting performance may not be at par especially when you are taking a shot moving. But as long as your subject is stationary, the pictures would end up looking fantastic. The only missing feature in this new release from Canon is an optical image stabilization that makes moving objects appears blurry when taken a shot of.

But given the cost, it can be remedied since Canon A1200 Silver Camera comes with a view finder option giving you a large selection of shooting options. What it lacks in image stabilization, it makes up for great options with various shots you intend to have. It is also powered by AA-size batteries making it user friendly especially to those with an active lifestyle and always on the go. This new Canon A1200 Silver Camera is certainly something you ought to have.

Visible to many nations around the world, the moon shone brighter than usual tonight.

Astronomers call it the ‘super moon’, or more aptly the ‘perigee full moon’, referring to the point in time where the moon is closest to the earth, hence its increased visibility to the human eye.

But a brighter moon wasn’t the only heavenly body for show.

According to stuff.co.nz, “A “super-moon” was lighting up the night sky tonight in a once-a-year cosmic show, overshadowing a meteor shower from remnants of Halley’s Comet, NASA said.”

The aeronautics organization furthermore said that the springtime Eta Aquarid meteor shower, the remnants of the Halley Comet that passes the planet every 76 years, would not be as visible due to the perigee moon. Due to its amplified brightness, the perigee “washed out” the would-be bright fireballs from visibility.

From Twitter…

Super Moon http://t.co/f6VVIstu

The last perigee happened on the 19th of March 2011, and the moon was roughly 250 miles closer to the earth than it is now. And during each perigee, the moon appears to be 14% bigger and 30% brighter at most.

These apparitions may also come with tidal changes. Tides may rise by a few centimeters every perigee, depending on the geographical conditions.

Apparently, Dotcom has backed this statement, although another party, Land Information Minster Maurice Williamson, denies any of the information came from him.

The existing contradiction is not lost on opposition parties, who have swept in on the pair, urging them to reveal all details regarding Dotcom’s bid to buy the land.

Dotcom had claimed he had given $50,000 towards Banks’ 2010 Supercity mayoral campaign, which had not worked out well. This was when the lobbying for land began.

According to the New Zealand Herald, Dotcom is facing an extradition process to the United States on charges of criminal copyright.
Banks claims that he has no knowledge regarding money from Dotcom, but did lobby on behalf of the property. An application by Dotcom to the Overseas Investment Office was then overseen by Mr. Williamson for permission to buy three properties. Williamson gave formal approval on April 7, 2011, with the necessary paperwork to prove it.

Teak wood is very durable and can last for years with the proper care and maintenance. However it is very important to decide what to use for your outdoor living space. Do you want teak furniture in original honey wood color or a natural soft silver gray patina? This is important because teak furniture that is already greyish in color is much easier to care for. Others prefer to continually sand and oil or apply other solutions in order to retain the original honey color.

Follow these steps in order to know how to properly take care of your teak furniture. To clean your teak furniture, you can always read your manufacturer’s suggestion so be sure to keep your manual if you buy a new one. Also, check with your manufacturer if the golden brown or honey-color furniture is new or dome artificially. At Design Warehouse, they will provide you with high quality furniture sets which are available in true new honey-color furniture or the old greyish patina.

For some who have no resources to look into, get a pale of water – depending on how big your furniture is. Mix in 1 scoop of laundry detergent with bleach. Make sure to maintain a ratio of 1 scoop is to one Liter of water. Brush using a soft bristle brush only and remember to scrub lightly. Using a pressurized nozzle hose with not more than 1200 psi, you can rinse your furniture maintaining a 6 to 8 inches distance from the surface. To remove the greyish patina from teak furniture, you can do light sanding using a medium one in order to fully restore the piece to its original palette. Lastly, seal your teak wood using a teak sealant. After all these steps, you can already have your fully restored and beautiful teak furniture set for outdoor and indoor relaxation.

The Australian mining company Bathurst Resources has revised its plans for the upcoming Denniston coalmine, taking environmental repercussions into account this time.

The company claims that the new plans are designed to significantly reduce the initial coal output when the proposal first came out. After review, local residents have withdrawn their appeal on cutting the proposal short.

The Denniston coalmine has been surrounded by controversy in the last month as high-profile environmentalists and scientists scour the plateau for new species. Because of its contributions to environmental diversity, locals have vehemently protested the proposal of the new coalmine.

According to the New Zealand Herald, Bathurst chief executive Hamish Bohannan said today the company was now committed to moving the coal off the plateau by aerial ropeway, similar to the historic ropeway at the nearby Stockton open-cast mine.

The revised plan reveals that coal production would be lower than expected in the first few years, not exceeding 500,000 tonnes a year. The coal would then be transported off the plateau by truck either to the Westport port or by rail to Lyttelton. Once the ropeway is built, output would be expected to increase.

From Twitter…

DTN New Zealand: Controversial coalmine ‘revised‘: Australian mining company Bathurst Resources announced today … http://t.co/fgDDXmDN

Bathurst expects to address the environmental effects of the proposed coalmine, as well as enjoy lower operating costs at the same time.

Hospitals are supposed to be places where people place all their trust and hopes on the professionals that are in the business of saving lives. But how would you feel if those very places themselves are causing more harm than the world outside the white tiles and sterilized equipment?

Grey Hospital at the West Coast is one of those hospitals that have had rumors flying around about alleged medical mistakes being covered up by the hospital staff. A former general practitioner in the said institution has leaked to the press some disconcerting information about the staff’s incompetence among others.

As reported in the New Zealand Herald, “His emails, leaked to The News, criticised lack of supervision and “overestimation of clinical capabilities” of junior doctors, changes to orthopaedic and cardiology services, lack of clinical competence, and increased collaboration between the West Coast District Health Board (WCDHB) and the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB).”

He comments on how he had seen numerous avoidable deaths in Grey Hospital that most likely stemmed from incorrect assessments and subpar medical and nursing care and observation.

From Twitter…

West Coast hospital accused of ‘hiding‘ mistakes: Grey Hospital has a culture of “hiding” mistakes, says a forme… http://t.co/cnmlqrns— nzheraldnznews (nzherald National) (@nzheraldnznews) Thu Apr 19 2012

But this is why most health institutions analyze these legitimate concerns and come up with policies of open disclosure and transparency as much as allowable.

However, it will take more than such policies for institutions like Grey Hospital to bounce back from such serious allegations especially when they are proven to be actually true. Health business is one tough cookie.
